In the heart of Norway's notorious black metal scene, three young women make a three-year pact: to awaken the world, each other, and themselves as witches.
Nikoline, Victoria and Johanna begin Witch Club Satan without knowing how to play their instruments. What follows is an extraordinary transformation as the feminist black metal trio moves from experimentation and ritual to major international stages, challenging the conventions of a music culture historically dominated by men.
Director Maja Holand follows the band through its first three years, moving between visceral live performances, pagan ritual and vulnerable moments behind the masks. The film also reaches backward into Norway's history of women accused and executed for witchcraft, connecting the band's contemporary provocation with a much older history of female persecution, resistance and self-determination.
